Well, this is where the tragedy of the commons comes in. I mean, as one of the "them", I like Davis precisely because of the kinds of places it has, and find Harvard almost sterile compared to what it once was. I'm unclear on who *likes* Harvard Square in its current state, but somebody must do so, since the mall-ified stores seem to be managing.

I don't disagree that the problem may be unavoidable, but I live in hope...
