More flu vaccination clinics in January

The city web site has announced a number of upcoming vaccination clinics.  You can get the H1N1 vax, and/or the seasonal flu vax, at the same sessions.  You can get both during the same visit.

Here's some of the information:

"The Somerville Health Department has begun to receive more doses of H1N1 vaccine, and anticipates receiving regular shipments in the coming weeks. With this increase in supply, we are pleased to offer flu clinics for the general public every Thursday in January 2010 (7th,14th,21st , and 28th)  from 4-7 at the City Hall Annex, 50 Evergreen Avenue.  A limited supply of seasonal flu vaccine is also available while supplies last.

PLEASE note: vaccine will NOT be provided on a walk in basis due to the out of office commitments of the public health nurses."

I don't understand the sentence that says "vaccine will NOT be provided on a walk in basis". Isn't that what a flu clinic is, a walk-in event? The page does not give any information about how to reserve an appointment.

When I had my annual physical at Harvard Vanguard last week, my doctor asked me about flu vaccinations, and I told her that I had gotten my H1N1 shot at the city's flu clinic, which was open to everyone. She was a little upset (not at me), as she said that Harvard Vanguard has had trouble getting sufficient H1N1 vaccine for even its high-risk patients.

I received both of my vaccinations at one of the city clinics early this month and the whole process was both streamlined and speedy. I had the H1N1 mist and the seasonal shot, because they can't give both mists at the same time.

If you haven't had your vaccines yet, I recommend it highly.

Oops, I realized after posting that I worded my comment poorly. I actually meant I recommend the city clinic for people who already want to get vaccinated but haven't done it yet. :]

I don't think they quite managed to pick the LEAST convenient location in the whole city, but awfully close. Grump.
