Did the timing change on the lights on 16?

Did the timing of the traffic lights change on 16? There's always traffic going towards Alewife in the morning, but its been unusually heavy even not at peak times. ex. the people making a left turn into Cambridge never used to back up the other lanes, but now they stretch almost to Broadway. Or is there some unusual construction downstream of all this?

The MWRA is doing construction in Arlington Center, which is turning Pleasant and Lake Streets in Arlington into parking lots. Since these two roads are common ways to get to Rt. 2, perhaps some people are taking 16 to avoid Arlington Center? The construction is supposed to continue for at least the next 8 to 10 weeks.

Actually, that might be it. Those streets are cut-throughs to 2 for a lot of us in the area, so everybody's stuck with 16.

(for bob), no, if anything there's fewer people pushing the button.
