local craft jeweler recommendations

i'm looking for recommendations on local craft jewelers (e.g. the kinds of folks who tend to be at ArtBeat). i have a very small item i'd like to commission, but it's been a few years since i went to ArtBeat so i don't know who to go to.

What kind of jewelry? Beads? Glass? Custom molded metal stuff? Clay? If you give more detail, people might be able to direct you better.

If you're looking for custom molded metal stuff, Jade Moran (her store is right near the fire station on Highland Ave) is excellent.

In case other folks find this later and are interested, can you share the recommendation here? Thanks.

Jade Moran on Highland Ave has done some excellent work for me, and is great to work with.

Jason of Pepperbox is a friend-of-a-friend:

I've never had anything done myself, but I think all of his samples are beautiful. Maybe worth an inquiry, at least!

(For future reference)

If you are willing to take a jaunt out to the 'burbs, come out to the Western Avenue Studios (http://www.westernavenuestudios.com/) in Lowell. There are over 200 working artists, and at least 4 metalsmithing jewelers I can think of off the top of my head.

Sometimes the web page for an art or craft show will leave the vendor list up for a while, so you can go back and check out who was there.

One silversmith (at least) with a studio at Western Avenue Studios is also a Davis Sq resident: Johanna Bobrow (http://www.silverandindigo.com) - click on the Jewelry link on her site to see samples.

You might want to page through the Somerville Open Studios website (http://www.somervilleopenstudios.org/artists/artist_list.php?searchType=medium&mediumType=Jewelry) (this link takes you directly to the sort for jewelers). You can see a lot of different S'ville local artists with links to their websites, so you can get sense of their work.
