In an unprecedented bout of craftiness, I've decided to try my hand at making a collapsible hula hoop this weekend. I know where to look for all of the components except for bulk bungee. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a car, so travel is not a problem, but would prefer to buy locally, if possible.

Have you had your fireplace inspected by someone you'd recommend? If you don't mind sharing how much it cost, that'd be cool too.

I only just got the details about the event today and as a result I'm way way behind on fundraising but I'm hoping my online communities could give me a jump start. Its for a super great cause and you can come out and watch me freeze my butt off in Revere Beach if anyones interested, or just donate and forget about it. The following words in italics are robbed from the default webpage they offered me, thus in italics, but given that I just built the page and am pressed for time I feel they are sufficient. =) Below is my personal donations page link. Thanks in advance to any kind soul who helps me in my fundraising. I'm excited!

I'm heading to the beach a little early this year! I know the water will probably be below 40 degrees on March 6th, but let's be honest, it won't be much warmer come August 6th - we are in New England after all!

Why would I do something so wacky? The Passion Plunge helps support 11,639 individuals with intellectual disabilities who have chosen to live a healthier and happier life by participating in programs offered by Special Olympics Massachusetts.

Did you know that Special Olympics Massachusetts is an affiliate of UMASS Medical? Through this partnership and their Healthy Athletes initiative they are paving the way for better overall health through sport.

Help me raise money for this worthy cause! Join me in my plunging or make a donation on my behalf. And feel free to meet me when I come out of the water with a cup of coffee and 7 towels!

In last night's storm a tree came down in my yard (it's my tree, not my neighbor's, not the city's), and it did a slight bit of damage to a raised garden bed but no big deal. Since this is my first tree-downing, I'm looking for advice on the best and least expensive way to get rid of it. I talked to the city's tree guys, who say that because it's on private property, they can't help. I fear if I get the company that insures my property involved, they'll raise my rates.
