Although I'm not sure exactly what location he's looking at, nose-to-tail no-waste butcher Vadim Akmenko is raising funds via Kickstarter to open a butcher shop featuring local sustainably-raised meat in Somerville. Chip in as little as $5 to help get the project under way. Chip in more, and get a nifty prize (check the listings in the link). I love McKinnon's, but I'm trying to get away from the heavily-subsidized CAFO meat that's been all I've been able to afford so far. If he gets the backing he needs by June 14, I can have my ribs and eat 'em too!

ETA: The Kickstarter page says Somerville in one place and Cambridge in another, so it's not clear where Akimenko will eventually set up or even whether he's got a venue lined up.

Hey, if you're interested in choreographing a 40s-style musical number for our summer one-acts let me know. I need someone with dance experience to help me envision the full dance arc of the song "Brush Up Your Shakespeare"

Thanks all!

This Sunday, May 23, I'm co-leading a bicycle tour of Somerville, starting at 1 pm at Somerville City Hall.

Our theme this year is "Lost Theatres of Somerville", based largely on David Guss's recent Somerville Museum exhibit and LostTheatres.org website. We're hoping to go inside the Broadway Theatre (closed since 1982) as well as the still-thriving Somerville Theatre in Davis Square.

For more information, please visit http://www.SomervilleBikes.org/Events.html . Here are links to a map of our route and a turn-by-turn cue sheet.

Hope to see some DSLJ'ers there!

Hi there,
I live on Paulina and it seems as if the postal service missed us today (didn't pick up outgoing mail or leave anything for both apartments at my address). Our mail sometimes comes as late as 4, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone else in the area got skipped today.

Our roommate needs to sell her old junker of a truck (don't tell her I called it that!) and I doubt she is going to have the cope to do the craigslist thing.

Anyone know a used car lot around that is interested in fairly old stuff? (In other words, if you needed to go _buy_ a used car for under $2000, where would you go?)
