Wickedlocal has an article about the arrest of the buyer and seller in a crack deal near Davis:

http://www.wickedlocal.com/somerville/features/x487936650/Two-busted-after-alleged-crack-cocaine-buy-in-Davis-Square

According to the article, the alleged dealer lives in the Fresh Pond Apartments, just south of Rindge in Cambridge.

It's possible that this is connected to the shootings around that area over the past 14 months. My understanding is they're believed to be part of a drug turf war in the Camberville area.

The arrest is in the SPD Crime Reports listing, but nothing is in the arrest log yet (they're about a month behind). CrimeReports.com identifier 10025108 lists time of arrest as 3:14 pm on 27 July.

I am shocked, I tell you, shocked to find evidence of dealing here!
"Your quarter, sir."
Thank you.

From the other local newspaper: Somerville’s Davis Square plaza center of drug probe. This one's about a different arrest on a different day, for heroin dealing.

I generally consider such arrests for victimless crimes to be a waste of police resources.

Three shootings in 2009 and none so far this year = a turf war?

If you listen really closely, you can hear the entire city of Baltimore laughing at us.

When Hyde placed his finger in her mouth to retrieve the drugs, Pisani allegedly bit down on his finger and “thrashed about” in the station, police said. She allegedly spit up one bag of heroin.

Jeez, how often do cops lose fingers doing that?

Except, as the shootings show, such "victimless crimes" can often bring additional, less benign crimes with them...

You don't have to listen closely. You can hear Philly, Baltimore, Detroit, Flint, Oakland, and a whole lotta other cities rolling around, pointing and laughing at this idea.

True. Though if those drugs were legal, you wouldn't see secondary crimes. How many shootouts between liquor distributors have there been since 1933?

seriously. even considered to living in Berkeley (which butts up against Oakland), this is small potatoes. not that it's good in the least.

now about those leafy green dealers in davis, why haven't i met them yet? haha.

Nope, it's never good. But this isn't even small potatoes. It's no spuds whatsoever, being piled into an invisible potato mountain to make people who have no clue paranoid.

Maybe those folks shouldn't smoke pot. Or anything else for that matter.

Yeah, it's not great that there are shootings, but it's hardly the Badlands.

just in time
