Anyone familiar with which stores might have a large unsold stock of Function beverages? They used to have them at Target. They sell them in Shaw's, Whole Foods, Market Basket (in the coolers), Tedeschi's, and probably a bunch of other corner stores. But the issue is that a lot of the interesting flavors/supplements became very hard to find and may be discontinued, so I'm looking for the odd store that might have a lot of unsold stock.

Looking to sublet spacious and charming three bedroom apartment on Paulina Street, to one, two, or three people. A TRUE 5 minute walk to Davis Sq T and Teele Square. (3 minutes to Dave’s Fresh Pasta!) Convenient to several bus routes. Nice quiet street, friendly neighborhood.

One BR on first floor, 2 BRs upstairs. Large bright kitchen. Lots of storage. Total rent is $2100. Wireless included; tenant pays other utilities. Permitted parking right outside the door.

Please have good references and good credit. Available March 1. Lease ends 8/31, but you can lock it in with your own lease beginning 9/1/10. Email with some info about your current situation and we can set up a time for you to check it out. It’s a really great space in a great location!

I think it's about time I bought something, probably a condo, maybe a house, but somewhere in Cambridge/Somerville and close to Davis/Porter.

Looking for some third-party, unaffiliated references for agents that are knowledgeable about the neighborhood. In other words, not someone you are related to or really good friends with (or yourself, if you happen to be an agent). No offense, I just want an untainted reference as this is brand new territory for me.

Much obliged for any input.

Cheers,
Murph

So the new citywide permit parking signs now appear to be posted. The new rules will be enforced starting January 4th.

From what I've seen, they did a rather sloppy job placing the signs. Some blocks have no new signs. Sometimes there are new signs just a few feet apart, or at weird heights on the pole. And on streets like Elm, where they replaced old restrictions (like 2 hour parking except by permit 8 am - 6 pm except Sundays) with new ones, I've seen blocks with all 4 combinations of new and old signs (new only, old only, both, and neither).

Tom Champion's post at http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/2011317.html explicitly says the major-street permit and time limits are not in effect on Sundays, but the signs don't reflect this. They just say "2 hour parking except by permit 8 am - 2:30 am, permit-only 2:30 am - 8 am", without saying "except Sunday". You'd think they'd have proofread the signs before they spent thousands of dollars posting them them all over the city.

And I still can't believe the extent to which they imposed the permit-only rules, even in industrial areas. And this might be illegal under state law, since http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/40-21.htm just says towns can ban parking in front of a house except by residents of that house.

[livejournal.com profile] davis_square is booked to bowl at Ball Square Bowling Alley on Saturday February 6th at 7:00 PM! That's the date that won the poll. We'll have the alley all to ourselves and can bring whatever food and beverages we want.

This is not an RSVP thread, just a date grab so people who want to join in can get it on their calendar. We're going to have to pony up our $9 per person a week in advance, so I'll be setting up something in Paypal for that after the new year, or I can meet up with you to collect in person.

Yay bowling!

Hi All,

Just an FYI, there was an armed robbery last night at the Teele Square Market next to PJ Ryans. It happened at about 10:30 or so, and my understanding is that no one was hurt. I was kind of shocked since PJ's was mobbed due to trivia, and I would have thought a robber would want a deader time. Anyway, if you live in the area I thought this would be useful info.

Carry on.

I'm seeking a recommendation for someone who can repair the band on my watch. The band is a metal cuff that's attached to the watch by some kind of spring hinges (so you can open the cuff to get it on your wrist and then close it around your wrist).

One of the spring hinges has given up the ghost. My guess is that the best person to repair this would be someone who repairs the clockwork bits of watches. Can anyone recommend such a person? Or someone else in a different line of work (jewelry repair?) who'd be able to fix a problem like this?

(Someplace I can get to via the T or the bus would be preferable but not necessary.) Thanks!

The lease for Your Move Games will be ending this summer, and we are beginning to look around to see if there might be a better space available.  I'm aware of the empty space over Sagra on Highland Ave.  Does anyone know of any other place that might be available?

The space needs to be:
  • at least 1500 s.f. in size
  • cheap (yeah I know, unlikely, so probably basement or 2nd floor space)
  • somewhere near Davis Sq

x-posted from my journal...

[livejournal.com profile] juldea and I both need to get our hair trimmed. We're both quite fond of our long hair, but have let damaged ends grow out for way too long, and are looking to get trims from someone who can figure out how much needs to go, but still understands the meaning of "just a trim". Once upon a time Juldea had a person named Helen at a place called Savvy who got it, but unfortunately she no longer works there.

Recommendations? Cheap is good, too.

I am doing an "Italian" themed NY's party w/ homemade pizza, calzones, etc. and want some 'stage dressing' - those red-checkered cafe style tablecloths. Haven't found them so far.

Have been to:
--China Fair
--Tags
--Target
--Bed Bath and Whatever
--AC Moore

I would venture the North End but have no idea where to look over there. So rather than just wandering around aimlessly and/or giving up - I thought I would ask here (since it is so Davis specific... ;-)

Appreciate any tips.

Oh - btw - China Fair sells a cute espresso cup/saucer for $1.99 for both. A real bargain.
