Hello Massachusetts! We, Portland Oregon's Vagabond Opera, shall be gracing your fair city soon!

For those who do not know, we bring to you Opera reinvented! Gypsy, cabaret, vaudeville, Eastern European, Yiddish, Balkan and more! In over 14 different languages, we bring in Bulgarian Accordion, sinfully fast cellos (yes, two cellos!), jazzy drums beats, relentless upright bass and salacious saxophone.

And we're playing with Boston's very own and our good friends, Cirkestra!

We're hitting up Johnny D's in Somerville on Feb. 3rd!

Our music is avaliable for listening to here

Whiskey Bar )

'Twould be lovely to see your beautiful faces there! Also, apparently, the website for Johnny D's doesn't have the price listed, so it should be $12 in advance, and $14 day of show.

also on their website: http://www.thepulsecafe.com/

they're opening tomorrow from 5 to 9 pm.

Ron would like you to know they're a vegan cafe (but not earthy crunchy, despite the wheatgrass shots: a look at their menu reveals a lot of traditionally meaty things, like a seitan-based gyro that I want to try), and they're at 195 Elm St., the former site of Joey's Thai Cafe.

10:00 a.m.

Join us for services followed by a potluck, dairy/vegetarian Shabbat lunch. There will also be a children's service at 11:30 a.m. Services at Havurat Shalom are egalitarian, lay-led and usually involve a lot of singing. The potluck is truly pot luck - no arranging of the dishes in advance. The meal is a good time to meet people and we welcome newcomers.

She used to live in Somerville. Sad news.

"Karen Schmeer spent Friday in Brooklyn, N.Y., working on her latest project, a documentary film about the late chessmaster Bobby Fischer for HBO. She was hustling to finish the editing before the 40th birthday party weekend her closest friends were planning for her in mid-February. On her way home to Manhattan, she stopped to buy groceries.

It was there, in a crosswalk on Broadway at West 90th Street, police said, that a getaway car speeding from a robbery at a CVS store struck and killed Schmeer just before 8 p.m.

[...]

After college, Schmeer rented an apartment in Somerville with a friend, and soon went to work for Morris, primarily as a researcher."

I have put out 3 TVs, corner of Summer St. and St. James Ave. 27", 20", and 19". All are in working order. The 27" has one (of two) set of RCA inputs that doesn't work. Our trash day is tomorrow, so Somerville will be picking them up at some point then.

Edit: All gone.
