Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important snow emergency information for Monday, March 12.
The City is declaring a snow emergency to go into effect at 5 p.m. on Monday evening. Beginning at 5 p.m., cars will have 4 hours to move to the ODD side of the street (unless signage on your street says otherwise). Residents may also park in a municipal or school parking lot. Note that if you park in a school lot, you must be able to move your car from the lot within 2 hours of the end of the snow emergency. So please do not park in a lot unless your schedule is flexible.
Again, as a reminder, this winter season cars must park on the ODD SIDE of the street (unless otherwise posted). Ticketing and towing will begin at 9 p.m. tonight for cars that are not moved to the correct side of the street or to an off-street parking lot.
On Tuesday, March 13, Somerville Public Schools, Public Libraries, and all public city offices will be closed, as the City will be operating with emergency personnel only. Starting Tuesday, trash pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Due to expected potential blizzard conditions on Tuesday, we strongly encourage all drivers and bicyclists to remain off the roads during the storm. Also, as you are able, please consider checking in on neighbors who may need assistance before, during, and after the storm.
