I'm with you. I liked Bluefin until I started going to Asai in Belmont center and, although it's somewhat more expensive, it's so much better that I don't really like Bluefin any more.
Of course, it's not super-convenient to public transportation, unless you like commuter rails, but it's plenty bikeable.
I've heard their lunchboxes are splendiferous! Unfortunately, I've not had the chance to try one. Hmmm....maybe this weekend...I've been stressed lately and could go for an awesome lunch... :)
I'm sure you know that not all maki is vegetarian. There's also veggie nigiri - there's at least Inari (sushi rice in a sweet tofu pocket) and Tamago (sweet egg on sushi rice).
I second Hana, I've gotten food poisoning at Bluefin. Cheap != Good. Sadly somerville is lacking for really amazing sushi, for that you really need to head to Coolidge corner and hit Fugakyu, Tsunami or...the ones whose name I always forget...or for the best in the area, head to Oishii in Chestnut Hill. But I don't think that place is T accessable.
thanks for the tip! i've lived in the greater boston area for about 2 years now, and haven't found any *really* quality sushi yet. hana comes close. i'll try some of these in coolidge corner. thank you thank you.
I like Bluefin but they're always ludicrously crowded to the point where I won't eat there anymore. (And technically, they're in Cambridge, not Somerville.)
Hana Sushi is good, but again, they're in Cambridge. I like Yoshi's, just off Powder House Circle.
I second Yoshi! And I disagree with the other poster. I've always had wonderful service at Yoshi, usually the same sweet lady. I've never had bad service there and I have at many other Somerville eats.
If you go there to eat they serve the sushi in this really neat boat which I like because I'm a dork. They also deliver.

Date: 2005-02-14 08:10 pm (UTC)i'd go to bluefin if i'm feeling like some average sushi, but for better quality i'd go over to hana.
if you're up for quantity and can get a ride, head out over to minado in natick: all you can eat sushi/japanese cuisine.
honestly, i haven't really found any sushi that is exceptional in the boston area, yet. i'm still searching!
