Food drive?

Does anyone know of any local food drives happening this week? Failing that, would anyone be willing to let me drop a bag of food with them for some future drive? I'm leaving town in a couple days, and I have a lot of food I would hate to see go to waste.

Thanks!

Edit: Thanks, all! I'm going to go with the donation bin at Tags, since that will be easiest for me to get to on foot.

Looks like there are three food pantries in Somerville: http://www.gbfb.org/gethelp/pantries.cfm or you can contact the Greater Boston Food Band about making a donation http://www.gbfb.org/DonateFood/index.cfm

The Stop & Shop on McGrath always seems to have a drop-off box near the Customer Service Desk (but you should call and ask first, because it might not be a permanent thing)

You can always drop food off at Harvest Co-op in Central Square.

The Watertown Fire Department ran a food drive for local pantries in May, and according to this article, you can still do drop-offs after May.

To add another possibility, Tags has a permanent food donation box (well, barrel, actually) in their entryway.

Local fire stations are taking non-perishable items (http://www.somervillelocal76.org/index.cfm?zone=/unionactive/view_article.cfm&homeID=207733) for the victims of the tornadoes that hit Western MA, through Thursday June 9th.

I believe St. James church on Beech Street also takes donations - again, worth calling, but that's closer to Davis than many of the options listed above, if that helps.

I'm pretty sure the Somerville Homeless Coalition office right in Davis Sq. takes food contributions for their pantry.

There's a list of what they take here: http://somervillehomelesscoalition.org/donations/FoodToiletriesRequest%202010.pdf . They probably wouldn't mind somebody dropping off a bag that includes these items during their business hours. But, they do ask that donation drop-off is scheduled, which I'm sure is important for larger donations.
