On the spot ring alterations?

My mother gave couple of her rings, and they're a size too small. I've been hearing far too many stories of rings being stolen lately, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a trustworthy jeweler who can re-size a ring on the spot while I watch.

You could call Jade Moran on Highland Ave and ask if she'll do work while you watch. She's certainly trustworthy.

She is great. I don't know if she does resizing -- Jade's always recommended that I take my rings to Bostonian Jewelers (bostonianjewelers.com) for resizing. I've been there three times, two simple resizing jobs and one extremely complicated one. I don't know that they have any policy for doing it while you watch. (Honestly, I'd doubt it.) But I still give them my highest recommendation, and clearly Jade does too -- when I showed her the complicated basket-weave ring that previous jewelers said "could never be resized," she thought that Bostonian could figure it out if anyone could, and she was right.

Yes, ditto. I have no idea about "while you watch", but she resized my ring (which I bought from her originally...then I changed sizes). And she's well-known and involved in the community -- very reputable.

Daniel Spirer on Mass Ave in Porter is great. www.spirerjewelers.com I don't know if he can work while you wait, but he has been in business a long time, and I have never heard of anyone having problems with him.
