i just got a watch through mail order, and it needs to be adjusted with eeny jewellery-type tools (it's wooden and too large and clearly designed to have links taken out).

is there any place davis-ish that would perform this type of service? or should i just plan to purchase some eeny screwdrivers myself?

There is a small watch shop on Mass Ave on the corner of Davenport (the street with the murals behind the Porter Square Shaw's etc.) I was in there recently to replace the pin on my watch band
that had inconveniently popped out and disappeared somewhere in my car. They had the right pin in stock, and I think charged me $2 or maybe as much as $4 for the pin and the "repair".

I'd first try The Watch Shop in Porter Square, then Swiss Watchmaker in Harvard Square.

ETA: Watch Shop in Porter Square is the same place that [livejournal.com profile] pekmez posted about above.

Ja, I got mine done in porter. Any jewelry shop will do it. If you flirt a little they won't charge anything :)

If you do decide to "purchase some eeny screwdrivers", bring the watch to Tags in Porter Square. They have very knowledgeable and patient sales folks who will spend whatever time is needed to find the exact right size screwdriver for you.
