I have 2 rather elderly Macs (a sapphire iMac and a gray eMac) that are taking up valuable space in my apartment, and that I would love to donate to anyone who can find a good use for them; problem is, I need to wipe the hard drives, and have neither the knowledge of how nor the time in which to do such a thing. Would anyone be willing to help me out with (1) the HD wiping, and/or (2) finding a new home for them? #1 needs to happen before #2, of course, and while I can't afford much in the way of financial compensation (having been laid off at the end of April and temping sporadically at the moment), I can try to scrape up something, and there's always the usual bribe of seriously lethal baked goods...

Thanks in advance for any help!

I can make you a DBAN boot CD.

You tell the Mac to boot from CD by holding down appropriate keys as it starts up, then follow the instructions.

Do these Macs have working systems on them - do they boot up to the finder? If so, wiping the disk should be easy. If not, I have disks back to the early days of the iMac that may work on one or both of these.
