I just read some news about new businesses opening on Mass Ave close to Davis. There are no dates set yet.

In or near 2263 Mass Ave (where L'impasto was, which I hadn't even realized had closed, did something else close, too?), will be:

Urban Hearth http://www.urbanhearth.net/
and
Curio Spice Co. http://www.curiospice.com

And formerly-Verna's:
"Café Luna has applied to move its catering business to the site, where it would continue to do the cooking for off-site catering in the area and also provide on-site seating for people who want salads, coffee and so forth."
Cafe Luna is currently in Central Square. I've never been there.

Being unfamiliar with any of these businesses, I'm not sure how excited to be. Any thoughts? :)

I've only been to Cafe Luna once, for brunch, but it was very good. Has quite a following - long waits for breakfast, something of a Central Sq institution. The fact that their catering business is doing well is a good sign.

The other two I am not familiar with, but I do like both cafes and spices, so it sounds pretty cool!

I haven't tried any of their offerings, but I've seen spices from Curio Spice Co. for sale at the Boston Public Market. at the Siena Farms market stall.

Looking forward to all three, though I have no experience with any of them; I'm glad that none of those spaces is becoming another real estate office, bank, or pawn shop. Curio Spice Co. will be an excellent addition to that row of shops, which now includes Spindler Confections and Nussli. I worry a bit that Urban Hearth sounds a bit high-concept for that small space, but I hope they do well!

Well, I'm starting to breathe heavily.

I'm just at the point in my life where, economically, I might be able to afford to frequent a cafe again, and lo! Not one but two! Two! To open right around the corner from me.

I'm dubious about the economic viability of the spice shop – I'm not even clear why a business like that would go independent brick-and-mortar – but more power to them.

Oh, yeah, that's an interesting possibility and makes a lot of sense. Curio and Urban would be nicely complementary; that's exactly the ideal sort of setting to sell Curio's wares.

If I weren't so exhausted, I'd put the shoes back on and go look. :) Maybe tomorrow.

There didn't seem to be much more to see than what's on the signs. One storefront (the north one) definitely has a Curio coming soon poster, so...? *shrug*

Any update on Cafe Luna? I used to live in Central Square - they had the most amazing lemon ricotta pancakes! A really welcome addition to the neighborhood if it pans out....

Also am curious about Davis Square pizza - they have been closed a lot lately despite being "open 7 days as week"
