The Davis Square CVS had these signs up inside and outside the store yesterday, limiting what you were supposed to buy there on Christmas Day I didn't try to buy anything, so I have no idea whether this was actually enforced in any way. The self-checkout terminals were still working.

Neither of the other two CVS stores I visited yesterday, at South Station and Harvard Square, had these signs.

Back in 2014, the store had a similar sign up for Thanksgiving, but I didn't get a photo then.

I like how it lists "tobacco", which is something that CVS hasn't sold for years. (I assume this actually means "nicotine patches" or something)

I would guess this is a list directly copy/pasted from a notice from some Massachusetts retailers association, rather than something CVS put together themselves, thus is covering the gist of the law, rather than anything specific to CVS's real options.

I wonder how the law feels about the scout's honor method that's clearly being requested with this "implementation." Or maybe if issues crop up, you just get to argue you really thought the item in question was incidental to the cultivation of some plants you have. :)

I actually wonder if this was a sotto-voce protest about the fact that the blue laws are still on the books. It's kind of magnificently passive-aggressive about the whole thing...
