I was at Blue Shirt tonight and one of the employees told me that it's closing in a couple of weeks :( Can't imagine Davis without Blue Shirt...

What was the aforementioned incident? Was there a light that was on after close?

I felt like they could've used the space much better... I had overheard one of the owners talking to someone about a remodel a few years ago, but that never happened.

crap! but, it's true that I've been avoiding it because it's a wicked sterile and echo-y space, whose main good attribute (for me) was that they actually had enough space to make the tables far enough apart.

Aw man. :-( I can't say I'm too surprised -- it always had pleeeenty of seating available, which is never a good sign. I really enjoyed their food, and a couple times spent some pleasant hours working from there. Maybe I'll go today for one last visit.

The guy on the phone this morning said that Sunday the 29th is the last day. Maybe they will give me the recipe for the sesame tofu sauce.

I am very sorry to hear this; i like Blue Shirt a lot and have frequented it since it opened. Was a reason given? Should we assume it's a matter of rising rent? Are they moving to a new location?

I stopped by today for a Final Meal, and the letter posted on the door mentioned something about retirement. So perhaps they were doing fine, but just wanted out of the business. Which... I can totally understand.
