Does anyone know of a place I can take a leather purse to get the strap fixed? It looks as though the stitching came loose and the strap just pulled away, rather than a tear. All I need is the strap to be reattached. I'm not really sure of what type of business I could bring this to, and if there is something nearby. I'm willing to travel to surrounding towns if anyone knows of a place. Thanks for any suggestions!

You might try an old-fashioned shoe-repair place to see if they'll do this kind of thing. There's one such in Davis, although I don't know if they do this kind of work.

Friends of mine who ride motorcycles have told me that some random shoe repair places will do repairs to leather motorcycle-riding apparel, motorcycle luggage, etc., so a handbag sounds like it'd be right up their alley.

Seconded on the shoemaker, they can usually do small leather repairs like yours. The guy in Davis is in the alley behind Starbucks. He is old-school!

If for some reason the shoe repair guy in Davis won't help you, I think there's one in Alewife.

In other news, I love your icon. :-)

There is a Shoe Repair shop in Cambridge Side Galleria. They can reattach a purse strap too.

Jimmy's Shoe Repair in Central Sq. (next to the Asian market on Porter) is fantastic about this kind of stuff.
