Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good, dependable picture-framing place? I've had terrible luck with Corners (damaged a painting, failed to take responsibility, have been very slow to make repairs) and would prefer to go to a local business anyway. I saw the earlier post referring to the framer in Natick, but I would prefer someplace closer.

Does anyone have a place they can recommend for oil paintings and mounted photographs?

Thanks

Stanhope Framers (http://stanhopeframers.com/) on Bow Street in Union Square gets good reviews.

Stanhope is great. We've had several things framed there. As I recall, they do framing for some local museums, so they really know what they're doing.

We've only had a couple of things framed there but they did a great job!

Perhaps Frameworks on Mass. Ave? I can't find a website for them, but they're in between Meacham Road and Cameron Ave.

I got a couple of things done at Big Picture Framing (http://www.bigpictureframing.com/cambridge/index.html), on Mass Ave near Porter Square. It's a local chain, and they did a good job and were very nice.

Seconding - I did 3 oddly shaped pieces there, and was quite satisfied.

I've heard good things about the Framer's Workshop (http://www.framersworkshopbrookline.com/) in Brookline. You can DIY!

Ditto to this- I work right near Framers Workshop and love it. You can have them do the framing or do it yourself for less and they are very mellow about teaching you how to do the framing.

frameworks used to have diy, too (but don't anymore), and having never framed anything before i found it really easy. i'm presuming it's the same at framer's workshop. plus, you get the thing done the same day instead of waiting forever to pick it up during the holiday push.

corners is also evil spammers; they cold-call and spam me regularly and refuse to remove me from either list.

I have used Boston Art for work related framing, and been quite happy with them.

I miss MS Murphy!
