One room in a 2BR/1Bath apartment for a 1 year lease on the 2nd floor of a house in Cambridge. The house is on a quiet tree-lined street ½ a block from Mass Ave, 7 minutes walk from Davis Square and 12 minute walk from Porter Square. All utilities are included except for cooking gas (~$4/mo) and internet ($30/mo). The place has a large open floor plan (~1100 square feet), plenty of windows, a separate yoga room/guest room, a large kitchen with modern appliances, lots of storage, free parking with a garage, hardwood floors, and laundry in the basement. The room itself 12'x11' and the lease requires no smoking and no pets.
Here's a bit about me. I'm a 31 year old research scientist working at Novartis. I'm usually up for anything, especially if it's a little out of the ordinary. My last party involved steamed bao, hot apple cider and sweet tea vodka jello shots. I'm a bit of a hippie, but mainly a scientist and my rational side usually wins out over the dreamer in me, but I still to have fun and hang out with dreamers out there. My favorite things about the area are the Buddist Center on Mass Ave that serves awesome vegetarian lunches, the Honk! Brass Band Festival in October, and the "When Pigs Fly" bakery in Davis.. I've had a great time at Firefly for a couple years. I prefer smallish, live shows to clubs and arena concerts, theater to movies, and random local sports teams to the professionals. Things I really liked recently are "Dollhouse", David Foster Wallace's nonfiction, "Summers in the Park with George" (a Stephen Sondheim musical), Will Durant's "The Story of Philosophy," and dog sledding in Vermont (though I didn't get to mush). I'm a bit of a guitar player, but I don't play if people are trying to sleep. I never owned a TV and prefer to continue living TV-free, though I watch some shows off the internet using the LCD projector connected to my computer. My ideal roommate(s) would be a bit like me, at least in some ways. Mostly, I'd like people who are interesting and friendly and who are into some of the same things I am. It'd be great if they're up for the occasional random adventure, too.
The place does have a couple quirks. While a queen size bed can make it up the stairwell, the box spring will get stuck. My last roommate's large sofa bed also didn't make it into the apartment. Second, the apartment is two blocks from a church and there's a bell tower that rings every 15 minutes from 8am-8pm. It's not super loud and after a couple months I barely noticed it, but it did take a little getting used to. Anyway, if you want to know more, drop me a line, and tell me a little about yourself, too.
