A friend of mine is looking for a roommate over in Medford, not far from City Hall. Perks include an in-unit washer/dryer, a parking space of your very own, and a chill, quiet roommate (mid-40s, male).

If you're interested, the craigslist add is here: https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/roo/6471093627.html

Hi Folks,

I posted about a month ago, but not having much luck finding a roommate situation, so am posting again. Thanks for any leads!

I am searching for a shared living situation in a home that is within a 15-minute walk (max) to the Red Line (Davis Sq, Cambridge) or would also be interested in Union Square. I consider myself to be friendly, considerate, and clean and seek the same. I am mindful of other people's quiet times, clean up after myself, prompt with rent/bills. I tend to be out and about a lot, but at home I enjoy cooking, catching up with roommate(s), watching the occasional movie/documentary, reading, relaxing. I work at a nonprofit and enjoy community theater, meditation, live music, lectures, films, ... I'm looking in the $850/$900 price range for a share.

Does anyone know of a room to rent situation in the Davis Square area for December 1?

Thanks!

My roommate and I are looking for 2 more roommates to join our 4 bedroom unit on Lowden Ave. $821/mo plus utilities. Available Sept 1 or Oct 1.

Us: friendly geeky mid-20s software people, LGBTQ+poly friendly, non-smokers, moderately social but also enjoying alone time. Hobbies include knitting, improv theater, folk music, and circus.

Apartment: 4 bed 2 bath, cats permitted, in-unit laundry, GIANT living room, spacious kitchen w/ all appliances, central heating/ac (though we do supplement with window units upstairs in summer). 10 minute walk from Davis; convenient to buses 80, 89, 96, and probably others. Landlord is a reasonable person who gets shit done.

About 75% of our common area furniture will be gone by the time you move in, so there's space to bring your own stuff or you can join us on IKEA quests.

If you are a dancer or musician who wants to practice at home, this would be a great place for you as we're out of the house during the day and you'd have the giant living room all to yourself.

Hello, everyone!  After cooling our heels in Ohio for a year, we're trying to get back to Boston!  We're a working artist and writer, making speculative fiction and educational mental health comics.  We're trans and also multiple; if you'd like to learn more about that, here's our info page.  We are disabled, which means that we're pretty quiet and tire easily, but we always pay rent and bills on time, and we're good about cleaning.  References available on request.

We're hunting for April 1st, but the date is malleable.

Rent: Due to disability, no more than $500

Posting this for my terrific former landlords. 2 bed apartment in Teele Square available November 1st. Really lovely house (with amazing garden!) on a quiet one-way street. Landlords live upstairs and they are just great. Cats encouraged! Maybe not good for people with small children because of the lead paint thing. It's an old house. Laundry in basement, updated bathroom and kitchen, new appliances. I never had a problem finding street parking. 87 and 88 buses stop at the end of the street. I lived there for 10 years before I bought my house. I really loved it.

Hey everyone,

My friend Jessica is very lovely young lady mid-twenties, who is quiet, neat and easy to get along with and is looking for a roommate (or roommates) in a neighborhood in any of the following areas: Somerville, Medford or Arlington.

So, I thought I'd post here on her behalf =)

If you or someone you know is looking for a roommate -- can you please send me their contact info and I will pass it along to her?

Thanks!
Shefali

PS First post, apologies if I got something wrong.

I'm looking for somebody to share an enormous apartment outside Davis Square, starting in September. People walk in the door and gasp at the size of the living room, the light, the hardwood floors. It's 20 minutes walk to Davis, with very convenient bus access to the Red, Orange, and Green lines. The apartment is a 2nd floor walkup in a converted Victorian, with free laundry in the basement.

Your private space would be a bedroom, plus another room to use as a study or craft space, and we'd share the big sunny living room, sunroom, eat-in kitchen, and bathroom. The common space is already furnished, but we can fit more stuff in here if we need to.

see how great it looks? Despite my photography skills? )

I'm a 45-year-old woman, a bookish introvert who spends a fair amount of time at home, not necessarily being sociable. I'm looking for a housemate who doesn't think sitting on the couch reading a book is code for "I'm lonely and would like to have a conversation." (I do like having conversations sometimes. Though I don’t want to be pushy. I like respecting boundaries.) I need to keep video and many perfumes out of common spaces. The apartment is and needs to remain smoke and alcohol free, pet free, queer-friendly, and poly-friendly.

The landlord wants to approve subletters and check credit. He doesn't want this to be a 3-person apartment, but I think he'd be ok with 2 adults and a baby. (And I'm certainly ok living with a housemate whose sweetheart sleeps over a lot!) Rent is $900, plus half the utilities. Please contact me at [email protected] if you're interested or have any questions. (Also, please pass this around to any friends who want a nice place to live.)

Hello Davis Square!

I've got three rooms available near Clarendon Hill that need to be filled by 9/1. Price range is $550-$650, depending on the room. There are three rooms on the first floor, all sharing one full bath, with a fourth bedroom in the basement with its own (3/4) bath. There is off street parking for up to three cars and plenty of street parking otherwise. All rooms are decently spacious and can handle queen sized beds with ease.

I do have a moderately fluffy dog. He's very friendly, but not hypoallergenic.

It's very T friendly, with a 12 minute walk to Davis, or 5 minute ride on the 87 or 88.

Please drop me a mail through LJ or comment if you want more information!

I'm looking for somebody to share an enormous apartment on Winter Hill, starting in September. (My housemate is going to move in with her fiance, so we need a subletter to take over the last 6 months of the lease.) The place has a big sunny living room, and an eat-in kitchen with gas stove. We have a washer and dryer (not coin-op) in the basement. When we first moved in, we assured the landlord that neither of us had any interest at all in offstreet parking...we might try to renegotiate that if you have a car. I walk from Davis all the time, but for less enthusiastic walkers it's close to the #80, #88, #89, #90, and #101 buses. Only 2-3 minutes walk to the #80 or #89.

The space you'd be subletting is a 10 x 12' bedroom with a standard closet, plus a smaller (9 x 10') room you might use as an office, study, or craft room. The landlord wants this to be a home for 2 people, not 3, so this might be a good place for somebody with a lot of bookcases. $975 for both, plus half the utilities.

I'm a bookish introvert who spends a fair amount of time at home, not necessarily being sociable. I'm looking for a housemate who doesn't think sitting on the couch reading a book is code for "I'm lonely and would like to have a conversation." (I do like having conversations sometimes, though. If you like that sort of thing.) I need to keep video and many perfumes out of common spaces. The apartment is and needs to remain smoke and alcohol free, pet free, queer-friendly, and poly-friendly. If it seems like it might be your kind of place, contact me at [email protected] and we can discuss details.

(ETA: There might be some flexibility in the rent, if the situation looks great otherwise.)

Looking for a friendly roommate to share a comfortable, beautiful home in Medford Hillside, just outside Somerville - $825.
Sadly, I couldn't find anything in Somerville. I really had wanted to stay. I just signed the lease and am now looking for a roommate.

Me: Female, early 40's, Artist/designer. Very clean and organized - but casual about it. Very responsible. Mostly vegetarian. Friendly and respectful. Left leaning and environmentally friendly. Open to sharing the occasional meal or coffee, but enjoy my alone time too.

You: Female or gay male, 30+, non-smoker, no pets (allergies). Easy-going and responsible. Clean, communicative, and considerate. Seeking a similar situation...

Apartment: Owner occupied. Recently renovated and nicely painted. Decent sized bedrooms with ceiling fans, living room, office, sunroom, side porch. Hardwood floors. Tile bathroom and kitchen. Kitchen has microwave, dishwasher, gas stove, and hook-up for a stackable washer dryer.

Minutes drive/bike to 93, Mystic Parkway, Arlington, Cambridge, Somerville, Davis and Porter Square. The 96, 80, and 94 buses are 5-6 minutes walk away. The 95 is a 12 min walk. The 101 is a 14 min walk. Easy street parking - no permit required.

I have most household furniture and supplies (except the w/d) but have pared down to the essentials and those I love. Definitely room for more (kitchen table/island, couch, chair) - but prefer a zen home to an overcrowded or cluttered one.

Let's meet up for coffee and see if we might be a good fit. If we are, I can ask the landlord for a showing.
Thanks!

Ages ago, I observed that my roommates live with me for a year, then invariably wind up moving in with their significant others, often marrying them when they do so. My streak stands - my roommate's girlfriend is moving to Dorchester, and not wanting a long distance relationship, he's going with her.

So I have one room in my 3-bedroom, 2-floor apartment available starting August 1. We are a block away from the Clarendon Busway and the new Stop and Shop. The room is $675 a month, plus gas (heating and stove; almost non-existent in summer, about $40 a person per month in the winter). The landlord is in the process of installing solar panels on the building this week, so I can give you an idea what electricity has been in the past (about $25 a month per person), but things will be shifting on that front soon). The internet is $17 a month right now. The apartment and porch is strictly non-smoking of any sort, and there are two cats.

The room is large, two off-street facing windows, with a stupidly large closet. Landlord hates the colour the room is and would be happy if you repainted it. He will provide white paint; other colours are up to you.

We have a slightly reduced rent for an apartment this size in this area because the landlord is in NH, and we do the 'landlord things'; take out the trash, shovel the sidewalk, very light yardwork, etc. You should expect to help with this.

The lease runs Sept to Sept; you will be subletting for August.

I am female, in my early 40s, web developer, writer and very occasional bartender. The other roommate is male, in his 20s, a student doing retail work and on disability. We are looking for someone mature, who will not just stay in your room - we'd like someone we can hang out with.

Pictures will be available Monday (roommate is moving out this weekend, it's a bit of a mess). I am [email protected] or message me here.

My husband ([livejournal.com profile] squirrelitude) and I are thinking about having children sometime in the next couple years and are hoping to find a cooperative living situation
that would be welcoming of a new baby. We're trying to either find an existing coop with openings or joining with like-minded folks to find a place. We aren't particular about renting versus owning.

If you know of any opportunities that would be appropriate, or if you'd be interested in working with us to form a coop (or know someone who would be a good fit), please private message us!

EDIT: I'm all set.

Good afternoon,

My name is Ana and I'm looking for a sublet from May until September in the Davis area. My husband and I have agreed that our marriage is not working and I would like to move out of our shared apartment by the end of the month. I have roommates for September 1st, but am looking for a place to live until their current roomates move out. I'm really just looking for a single room with a shared kitchen and bath.

I'm 31, work at Houghton Mifflin, and do not smoke. I have a very small, friendly, short-haired cat. I'm a geek and always prefer to live with other geeks, but I will try to keep my squeeing over Iron Man and Glee to a minimum if I need to. :) I do not own a car.

I'm about to start looking on Craigslist, but if anyone knows of an open room, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

I'll be moving to Boston in January, as I've just accepted a job at IBM in Waltham. I am looking for two different living situations:

1) I need a room beginning January 15th through March 1 or April 1. This is just for myself. I am not a smoker and I have no pets. I'll be using this time to get a feel for the area and to look for an apartment of my own. Budget: cheap. Up to $900 with all utilities included.

2a) I need a 2 bedroom apartment (or 1 bedroom with office) beginning March 1 or April 1, which I am looking to lease for a year or more. Up to $1650 with all utilities included, but would prefer something less expensive.

OR

2b) I need another single parent who would like to share housing beginning March 1 or April 1. My son is two. If our kids are similar in age, we could find a 3 bedroom and save ourselves plenty of money.

Requirements for both places
  • Parking for one vehicle
  • Washer and dryer onsite

Thanks in advance for checking in with people you may know who have something like this available.

(I know this isn't Davis Square, but we spend all of our social time in Davis and it's only a half hour bike ride/45 minute walk/15 minute drive away!)

2 roommates looking for 3rd for November 1. We are both young professionals, 23/m and 24/f looking for other young professionals or grad students. Apartment has spacious kitchen with dishwasher, a living room and dining room with cool accents, back enclosed porch, and our own dedicated laundry in the basement. The apartment was recently renovated and the landlords are ridiculously responsive and nice! On-street parking, and walking distance from Medford center, Tufts, and buses to Davis and Sullivan Squares. Conveniently located right off of Rt. 16, Mystic Valley Parkway, and 93. We're both on the quiet side, 420 friendly, and have two ridiculously friendly cats. When our current roommate leaves, we will be down a dining room table and one of two couches, so if you have stuff, you're more than welcome to bring it!

About us:
Me: Higher ed professional woman working in Waltham. I like to experiment with cooking, keep up with my aquarium, and blog.
Him: Technical writer in Burlington. Likes to fiddle with gadgets and disprove any preconceptions you have about English majors.

We have oil heat, but we're on the 2nd (top) floor and the place is well insulated (and we're big fans of using blankets!) so we expect to keep heating costs low. We do not have cable, but have been doing fine streaming Netflix and Hulu+.

Applicants will need to pass a credit check from the current landlord and pay first and last month's rent. The lease turns to month to month on Feb. 1, though we plan on staying at least through the summer if not longer. We would prefer someone who plans on staying until at least the summer.

Note: While our roommate who is leaving has a cat, we'd like to try to keep the cats down to 2. These two get along really well and if possible, we don't want to throw off the balance. We will, however, consider one more cat.

Posting for a non-LJ friend. If you know of anything leave a comment or send me a message and I'll pass it on. Many thanks!

Hi,

I'm looking for a room in Cambridge/Somerville. Ideally it would be on the lease or sublet to lease.

I'm a male in my late twenties, fairly quiet, and laid back. I work as a tech in the Longwood Medical area, but I'm trying to figure out what I want to do in the medical field (this may include med school, who knows!). My job keeps me fairly busy but in my free time I enjoy sleep, board + video games, and trying to learn how to cook (results may vary).

I love cats though I have no pets of my own. I have a car and currently park it on the street. Right now my rent + utilities is sub-$800 and I'd like to maintain that. Laundry on site is also ideal.

If you have or know of anyone with a room opening let me know. I'd greatly appreciate it!

--D.
