I'm getting a little overwhelmed by all the groupon-type posts here. It's great that folks are sharing money-saving tips for local businesses, but I think we might be reaching a saturation point.
What if we created a davis_coupons community, and asked people to post these deals there and not here?

Date: 2010-09-28 02:34 am (UTC)So I thought I'd check further. Before last tuesday, the previous post about a voucher site had been on the 10th. There were 3 that day; one mentioning Lyndell's, and the other, from me, giving away a $50 Johnny D's door card, and someone else selling their MetroRock groupon-acquired card. And someone posted about a Zing! pizza deal on the 3rd (not in davis, but close and they deliver to DS).
so. That's 8 posts in the DS-lj about groupons or other voucher sites. 5 were heads up about offers (and yeah, 4 were posted by me, one, the zing! one, by m_b_w), 3 were offers of already purchased sites (one of which was a gift).
Out of 132 posts. That's 6% of the posts in the last month.
Is this really meriting a discussion of over 60 posts? It's own community? I feel silly even needing to have looked up all these stats for people...I was working today (for a change) and came home to find you'd all gone nuts.
It's NOT worth it's own community. It's not even worth this discussion, IMHO.
