Welp, that was a total bust.

The Jerk Bus beat me.  They kept moving too fast, not staying anywhere for long, and spreading misinformation about when and where they'd be, so I couldn't catch up to them.  It was like chasing Carmen San Diego; by the time I'd arrived at the State House, they'd already moved to Harvard, and I suspected that the moment I got to Harvard, they'd leave again.

So now I've got a bunch of resources and nothing to do with them.  You can download the whole load free here, I guess; I'm gonna take it down in a week, because some of it is pirated and I don't want to bilk my own community.  The whole thing contains:

Okay, you guys have probably already heard, but the Free Speech Bus is coming our way. (It's this total horseshit bus covered in slogans about how only XX girls and XY boys exist and anyone who says otherwise is against free speech and also SCIENCE because that's totally how science works.)

The bus got hit hard in NYC, so it's in the repair shop until Wednesday; I'm not sure when it's going to hit Boston and Harvard Square, but I'm planning something to do when it does.

Beep beep it's the Freedom Bus! )

Hello, Davis Square! I've posted here in years past about my writing (my Never After played at the Somerville Theater in 2009), and I've got a new script needing feedback. I Made A Faustian Deal With the Devil and All I Got Was This Lousy T-shirt is a full-length comedy set in Hell, where Catherine the Great, bluesman Robert Johnson, Joan of Arc, Niccolo Paganini, and the non-binary-gendered Devil argue over who among them should escape.

I'm hoping to hold a read-through in the next couple of weeks at a home on the Mass Ave end of Chester Street. There's a poll up at http://doodle.com/poll/p7y8448eh47p3trr to determine the best date. If you're interested in reading aloud, I can send you a PDF of the script. I am particularly interested in finding an African-American man to read Rob Johnson.

Thanks for your interest!

Hey guys, not quite Davis Square, but I figured folks would like to know if they haven't heard, the last gay bookstore in Boston is closing this Friday.  They're selling off their inventory, and from Tuesday til Friday the 28th, they're open from 12 to 6.

I'm planning to make an excursion to try and get as many of their old out-of-print gay comics that I can.  So many good businesses closing their doors... :(

Hi Folks,

Here's a fun, beneficial event in it's 6th year that's sponsored by our friends at First Church Somerville:

DRAG GOSPEL FESTIVAL 2016 Benefits the LGBT Asylum Support Task Force!

Sat. Oct. 15, 6-9 p.m. at Club Café, 209 Columbus Ave, Boston. Drag Show! All ages, no cover, love offerings and tips benefit the Task Force

Sun. Oct. 16, 10 a.m., First Church Somerville, 89 College Ave, Davis Sq, Somerville, Drag Gospel Worship! All welcome. Brunch after. Come in drag or come as you are! Love offerings benefit the Task Force

“The higher the hair, the closer to God.”  - Dolly Parton
Contacts:
James Adams/Serenity Jones [email protected]

It’s back! It’s wilder, weirder, and wackier than ever! DRAG GOSPEL FESTIVAL is blazing with bling, dripping with dazzling drag divas, and loudly, proudly full of PRAISE!
All to benefit the LGBT Asylum Support Task Force, which helps LGBT asylum seekers fleeing homophobic persecution in their home countries. Often victims of rape and torture, they are legally unable to work in the USA for a year or longer while they seek political asylum. The Task Force gives them a safe home, food, and other basics of life until they receive a work permit and can legally support themselves.

On Saturday, October 15, the drag divas mix it up at Club Café, Boston! All ages show in the glamorous environs of Boston’s most famous LGBT-friendly club. Featuring: Drag Festival Mama, Serenity Jones; magnificent MC and scintillating songstress from NYC and Philadelphia, Sapphira Cristal; special Guests Mizery; Kamden T. Rage, and others TBA! (To Be Admired, that is).  Soulful sounds from Project Soul and more!
Wear your dancing shoes! Bring lots of dollar bills to tip the drag queens. All tips and love offerings benefit LGBT Asylum Task Force.

On Sunday, October 16, join Drag Gospel Worship and “get dragged to church!” You’ll never think of church quite the same way again. Come as your favorite drag king or queen or come as you are – all welcome! Love offering for the Task Force. Brunch to follow in the fellowship hall.

Hey everybody, I'm involved in an art show for queer/trans disabled artists under the Boston LGBTQUIA Artists Alliance, and THE CALL FOR ART IS OPEN!

If you are queer or trans, have any kind of disability (chronic pain, chronic illness, mental illness, etc.) and you’re in the Boston area, you should totally submit to us.  It is going to be totally awesome!  If you have any accessibility problems with the website, or have any questions, let me know so I can let BLAA know.  If you are concerned whether you are "queer enough" or "disabled enough," the answer is yes, you are. (Though feel free to contact me via PM if you really want to make sure.)

Spread the word everybody!  Deadline is May 1st, 2016!  JOIN THE PARTY!

I'm posting this here in hopes that some of you might consider attending and donating to this wonderful group as a golfer ($120-$150 per person for the tournament) or at least a dinner guest. It costs $10,000 a month to support the Asylum Seekers that the Task Force is currently housing in Worcester. They are not allowed to work due to restrictive US laws, so they need all the financial support they can get.

"Task Force fans who love to eat! And/or love to shop! And/or love nice places! Dine with the Task Force and friends on Sat. Sept. 26, at the beautiful ballroom at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, Boylston, MA, 6:00 p.m. (early arrivals: cash bar will be open). Deluxe buffet, all you can eat. Live jazz music; asylum seekers will tell a few personal stories; mingle, hobnob, dance; bring friends! Just enjoy yourself ---and don't forget the fabulous silent auction and raffle prizes! Only $35 a person. Email [email protected] or go online to http://lgbtasylum.org/golf.htm and register yourself and others as "dinner guests" (bottom of the reg form).

See you there!"

Hello, everyone!  After cooling our heels in Ohio for a year, we're trying to get back to Boston!  We're a working artist and writer, making speculative fiction and educational mental health comics.  We're trans and also multiple; if you'd like to learn more about that, here's our info page.  We are disabled, which means that we're pretty quiet and tire easily, but we always pay rent and bills on time, and we're good about cleaning.  References available on request.

We're hunting for April 1st, but the date is malleable.

Rent: Due to disability, no more than $500

Hey, Davis Square. Five years ago, my musical Never After played at the Somerville Theatre; a couple of years ago, I invited you to a read/sing-through of another musical, Fire and Ice. Now I'm looking for readers for a NON-musical play, Twelve Nights.

To be done properly, it will require twelve readers, six female-presenting and six male-presenting (plus one for stage directions). There are no small roles, nor any big ones, really. I already know that I'll rewrite the play with six roles, as it's too unwieldy, but I believe it'll be fun for a read-through now regardless. If there's sufficient interest beyond twelve readers, I'll reserve a room at the library (as I did with Fire and Ice.

What's this play about? Friendship, sex, religion, and mid-life crises. It's a comedy of manners, a modern take on what happens when a love potion a la Midsummer Night's Dream sends a group of friends into a tailspin. I'm told that it's witty, interesting, and timely.

Comment or email me at ceelove [at] speakeasy (dot) net, and I'll get you a PDF of the Twelve Nights script.

If you're going to the Pride 2013 Festival tomorrow (June 8) at City Hall Plaza in Boston, please visit the table shared by Theatre@First and The Post-Meridian Radio Players! We'll be representing part of Davis Square's live theatre scene. Find out about upcoming auditions (pretty much all rehearsals and performances take place in Davis), learn how to get involved as an actor, artist, designer, techie or crewbie, and grab some free swag while it lasts.

Pride is a rain or shine event, and rain is expected, but hoping to see you there anyway!

(Mods, I'm making an LGBT tag.)
